Feb. 9, 2024 — An Ohio man pleaded guilty today to a misdemeanor charge under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which prohibits a person from intentionally interfering with or intimidating any person because that person is providing reproductive health services. Mohamed Waes of Columbus, also pleaded guilty to felony charges of communicating interstate threats and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Six individuals indicted by federal grand jury for perpetrating a multimillion dollar fraudulent scheme to obtain COVID recovery assistance funds under the federal CARES Act
April 5, 2023 — W. Stephen Muldrow, U.S. Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico, announced the indictment of six individuals for a multi-million-dollar fraudulent scheme to illegally obtain federal recovery funds under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The Grand Jury charged the defendants with multiple counts of wire fraud, money laundering, Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) fraud, and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) fraud. The charging documents claim that from April 2020 through April 2023, the defendants and their co-conspirators caused the submission of at least 272 EIDL and PPP loan applications seeking the illegal disbursement of at least $9,020,590.33 in federal recovery funds from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and Bank 1.
