If your business is no longer operating, you still are responsible for filing all required tax returns for your business by the due dates. In addition, if you had employees, you must file all required employment tax returns, including:
- Form 940, Employer's Annual Federal Unemployment (FUTA) Tax Return PDF,
- Form 941, Employer's Quarterly Federal Tax Return PDF,
- Form 943, Employer's Annual Federal Tax Return for Agricultural Employees PDF or
- Form 944, Employer's Annual Federal Tax Return PDF.
Both business and employment taxes should be paid when due. But, if you are not able to pay in full, contact the IRS immediately to discuss your options.
